bluebird cancer retreats :: board of directors

Executive Board Members:

Paige Riopelle, President
     Development Director, Smile Grand Haven

Paige joined the Bluebird board in 2010, bringing with her a strong commitment to community involvement, health and wellness, personal integrity, and giving with gratitude and compassion. She became involved with Bluebird after attending the annual auction fundraiser in 2009.  "As cancer survivors, both my parents inspire me.  And although their journey was inspirational, I believe an organization like Bluebird could have eased their struggles.  By serving Bluebird, I am providing respite, renewal and hope to those who are going through their own personal cancer journey now."

Dawn Stebbins, Vice President
Office Manager, West Michigan Auto Body

After serving at several Bluebird retreats, Dawn joined our team as a board member in 2009. “I realized during my first camp outing that both the cancer survivors and those coping with cancer are just amazing people.” Dawn has lost her father to cancer and is helping her mother recover from successful treatment of a recent cancer diagnosis. She recently completed a term serving as financial secretary for St. Luke's Lutheran Church.

David Garland, Treasurer
      Bank Officer/Branch Manager, Citizens Bank

Dave joined the Bluebird board in late 2011 after hearing about the wonderful support and HOPE Bluebird Cancer Retreats gives to cancer fighters and survivors. "I am proud to serve an organization that can provide hope and support to a patient and family while going through the tough battle of cancer. I have seen to many people try to fight it alone because they did not know there are resources out there for them." Dave is involved in many community organizations including serving as president of the Tri-Cities Kiwanis, and a board member of the Grand Haven Lighthouse Conservancy.

Board Members:

Amy Atkinson
     President, RC Productions

As the daughter of a breast cancer survivor, Amy was inspired to join the board in 2009. “I learned through my mother's fight that, with a great attitude and strong support group, the disease can open up new doors and enlightenment instead of sadness and grief.” Her marketing expertise and positive outlook will be a great addition to the organization.

Tracey joined the Bluebird Board of Directors in 2008. As a specialized Oncology Social Worker since 1992, Tracey knows, first hand, the needs of those with cancer. “Bluebird captured my heart when I volunteered at a retreat. It is an incredible experience for campers and staff, alike.”

After volunteering at several camps, Jeanne joined the Bluebird Cancer Retreats board in 2007. Gloria LeMaire
     Retired - Legal Assistant/Executive Secretary

We were thrilled to welcome Gloria back to the board in 2008. She previously served a double term from 2000 - 06. Gloria is truly inspired by those she serves. “I have volunteered for years and have lost several of the campers who became friends. I wouldn’t trade any of the time I spent with these very special individuals.” Gloria has also held board seats on United Way Allocations Committee and Volunteer Center.

Nancy Miller, Past President
     Vice President, Chemical Bank

Nancy joined the board in 2006 and became President in 2009. After raising their children, she and her husband, John, returned to Spring Lake. “I have lost friends and family to cancer and I want to serve an organization that provides hope and respite for those dealing with a cancer diagnosis.” Nancy is involved in many community events including Relay for Life and Making Strides, which are both American Cancer Society events.
